A thin lens with a specially figured surface used in the optical design of certain types of telescope, notably the Schmidt camera and the Schmidt-Cassegrain popular with amateur astronomers. The corrector plate serves to eliminate the spherical aberration that would otherwise affect the image in these designs, which utilize mirrors with a spherical profile.
